Meet Mutiat.

“What happens when you want a treat, but the usual options don’t work for you?”

Tastebuds Delight was founded by Mutiat Jinadu Olawunmi from a love of food, baking and creating things for other people to enjoy. Her interest in alternative baking became particularly important after seeing the experience of a friend’s child who had problems with milk.

Mutiat began researching ingredients, experimenting with recipes and exploring ways of giving people more choice — going on to develop her skills through practical baking experience and training, including learning with Luminary Bakery.

Founder, Tastebuds Delight

From testing to business

Before launching Tastebuds Delight, Mutiat tested her products and listened carefully to what people thought. Early testers tried products including cinnamon buns, flapjacks and chai and mixed-fruit crumble cake — giving feedback on flavour, sweetness, texture, presentation and what they would actually consider buying.

Mutiat used that feedback to refine and improve her recipes before moving forward with the business. That process helped shape an approach she still values today:

Why baking experiences?

As Tastebuds Delight developed, Mutiat saw another possibility. Baking doesn’t only have to happen behind the scenes before a customer receives the finished product — the process itself can be enjoyable. Friends spend an afternoon making something together. Families create memories around a mixing bowl. Someone who’s never baked before feels the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.

Some experiences are simply about having fun and enjoying good food. Others draw on Mutiat’s trauma-informed training to create supportive environments for community and wellbeing activities. Both come from the same idea: baking is better when it can be shared.
